Spirulina

Spirulina is commonly associated with the blue algae family, so much so that it is known as Spirulina algae. It is actually a dark green cyanobacterium, a shade given to it by the high presence of chlorophyll.

In addition to chlorophyll, this particular microorganism is rich in numerous other nutrients, so much so that it is one of the world's major superfoods.

Specifically, spirulina offers a very high nutritional intake: it contains protein (about 60 percent), Omega 3 and Omega 6, vitamins, antioxidants, unsaturated fats, fiber, and minerals including iron, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.
